Converting a tired bungalow into a contemporary beachfront house

Convert a bungalow into a house – the vision

Our clients had plans to convert a bungalow into a stunning house. Whilst their existing bungalow was tired and dated it sat in a wonderful sea front location and provided the perfect canvas to create a stunning new home of their dreams.

The architect had created a beautiful set of drawings for us to work from. They spoke of a vision to create something contemporary, providing open and light living spaces. In addition, large feature windows to the seaward side of the property would not only let that light in but provide amazing views along the beach and out to sea.

Convert a bungalow into a house – the first steps

However, the journey to convert a bungalow to a house starts quite dramatically. Firstly we gutted the interior of the property and stripped back to just the floor and walls. Next he roof of the bungalow was removed, and the property looked vulnerable and unloved – there must have been a moment when our clients thought “what on earth have we done”.

But as the second storey walls started to grow the future potential of the new house slowly appeared. Finally with the new roof on and those amazing windows in place, we could suddenly see what the new home might look like and what a joy it would be to live in.

A stunning house takes shape

From here things really started to take shape. The architect had completely transformed the internal layout of the property to create new living spaces. Inside the house our team were busy fitting kitchens and bathrooms and decorating walls. The layout is modern, light and  spacious with a combination of open plan living areas and cosy corners.

Just as important as the interior, our clients had not forgotten to pay attention to the style of the exterior of the property. They chose cladding in a beautiful blue/grey, giving it the contemporary beachfront vibe they were hoping for.
